Question
My mother had strabismus. Now I have an 8 month old baby. I was told strabismus is genetic. Is this true and should I have her checkex
checked?
If yes, what kind of doctor should check her?
(Janet Ferrari)
Answer:
Dear Janet,
Strabismus is partially hereditary, and and having a first-degree relative with strabismus certainly increases the risk. You can have your child checked by an ophthalmologist.
