Question
I have a left lazy eye which goes inwards towards my nose and also double
vision if i donīt wear my glasses.
i am worried that as i get older my left eye, which doesnīt wander when i wear my
glasses, will not be able to be controlled
and it will wander towards my nose even with glasses. is there surgery available or
anything that can be done.
Thanking you in advance for your answer
I am 30 years old.

Answer:
Dear Jackie,
Apparently, you have plus glasses. You need to wear the glasses because (1) focusing is
connected to your eyes going inwards towards the nose (= convergence) and hence the
convergent squint is reduced by wearing the glasses, and (2) as you get older, your
abillity to focus will decrease, so that you will soon need to wear the glasses all day. If,
with the correct glasses, the squint is still larger than 5 degrees, consult the Strabismus
Department at the University Eye Clinic in Cologne (Professor Ruessmann) and have the
squint measured.
