Question:
About: Hidden squint may appear
Sir, I am a sixteen years old girl. I have a little bit hidden squint in my eyes since I
was two years old, but my problem now is that I started to feel this hidden squint when I don't
wear my +4 glasses .I asked one doctor about it he told me that It may appear and the reason
of it in his opinion is studying a lot. I desperately want to rectify this problem. Is surgery the
only solution or can this disease be rectified by eye exercises. Where are the best hospitals for
treatment of this problems available? What are the possible expenses? Waiting desperately
for your answer, Thanks in advance
(Wan)
Answer:
Dear Wan,
Please wear your +4 glasses or get contact lenses. When you don't wear your glasses, you
have to focus extra, and extra focusing goes hand in hand with converging your eyes, i.e. the
inward squint will increase. It is not possible to have your eyes straightened without wearing
the glasses, because then you would squint outward when wearing the glasses after surgery.
Currently you can focus without the glasses most of the time, but that will, in a few years
from now, no longer be possible.
Yours truly,
