Question:
Sir,
I am 21 year old UG engg. student.
Only about two month ago, I observed hypertropia (learnt the term from your web site)
But, I am yet not convinced about the possible cause of my problem at this age, when I
am healthy in all other respects. I am a regular computer user and do regular heavy
weight exercises. Do thau affect the visual system in some respect? I am going to consult
a local ophthalmologist, but doubt their expertise. Please help.....

Answer:
Dear Rajnish,
What do you mean by hypertropia ? Did you see vertically double or did you observe
one eye going up when looking in the mirror ? In the first case you either have acquired
a vertical strabismus quite recently or a latent vertical strabismus has manifested itself for
the first time. In the second case you most likely have a strabismus since infanthood with
what is called a dissociated vertical deviation, a varying vertical strabismus without
double vision, whereby the nonseeing goes up.
Yours truly,
